The increased attention on the health risk of high cholesterol has prompted many people to seek treatments for lowering cholesterol. The pharmaceutical industry offers many high-priced formulas for lowering cholesterol that may be appropriate in the most drastic cases. However for most individuals, nature provides several remedies that have proven effective in reducing and maintaining a safe cholesterol level.
If you have been diagnosed with this condition, the first item on the agenda that will assist in lowering cholesterol is a basic nutritional change, not simply a change of diet. Cholesterol is produced by the liver to maintain healthy cell membranes therefore if the problem is an imbalance in the production process, simply changing your diet may not be sufficient.
Lowering Cholesterol with Herbs
One of the most famous herbs in Ayurvedic medicine, (Commiphora mukul) has been used for centuries in India to successfully control cholesterol and as a treatment for obesity. Guggul is a resin that works to rejuvenate the body and has the power to increase the white blood cell count.
Guggul lowers cholesterol and triglycerides in the bloodstream, improving the ratio of “good” (HDL) to “bad” (LDL) cholesterol. Research shows that regular use of this herb can lower blood cholesterol by 14-27% and triglycerides by 22-30%. By working on the liver, Guggul increases the metabolism and assimilation of the harmful LDL cholesterol, producing results in as little as 4-12 weeks.
The effects of Guggul compares well with prescription formulations for lowering cholesterol, however the difference between Guggul and prescription formulas is that Guggul, being a natural plant extract works in harmony with the body making it a safer product.
Nutritional Supplements for Lowering Cholesterol
The nutritional supplements red yeast rice, co-enzyme Q10, vitamin C, chromium, royal jelly and L-carnitine have all been used successfully in treating obesity and increasing the levels of the good cholesterol HDL and lowering the LDL or bad cholesterol. OC-Max combines several ingredients in one convenient pill to combat high levels of cholesterol.
Adding soy products and garlic to your dietary regime can be effective complements to the nutritional supplements and assist in lowering cholesterol.
W.T. Rawleigh founded Rawleigh Products in the late 1800s to create a line of “Good Health Products” that possessed both strength and quality.
There are many supplements out there in the marketplace nowadays and it can be confusing sometimes as to whether or not they are worth taking. The fact is that most people have diets that are simply not providing their body with the necessary nutrients that they need.
We are all aware that we need to be consuming more fruits and vegetables but the reality is that most people for whatever reason are not doing it. Thus consuming some sort of nutritional supplement is often an ideal choice to introduce the necessary vitamins and minerals back into the system for optimal health.
Supplements can be found today very easily at most supermarkets and even online at places like Amazon or other nutritional sites. Choosing the right supplement for you can be a confusing task as there are so many different options. It is often a good idea to consult with a doctor first to make sure that the product you intend to consume is compatible with any prescription drugs that you may be taking.
It is important to keep in mind that just because you are taking a nutritional supplement it does not all of a sudden give you a license to eat whatever you want. You still need to make sure you are consuming the right kinds of foods and not over indulging. Moderation is the key here so you can consume almost any food but keep the amounts minimal for those high fat or junk foods.
There are many great super foods out there that you can consume that can offer great health benefits. Whole food supplements such as green drinks are concentrated nutritional supplements and can give your body a huge boost of nutrients. The great thing about most whole food supplements is that they are made of regular foods only more concentrated so there really are no nasty side effects.
Another benefit to whole food supplements is that they give your body an array of vitamins and minerals that you would not get with isolated supplements so you can save money by only using this kind of nutritional supplementation.
Food can offer you a great way to stay healthy and in fact can be used to help heal your body. Use it to keep you healthy and strong and control your urges to over eat or consume too much of the wrong kinds of foods. It is tough to develop this discipline but I think you will agree that the health benefits may make it very worth while.
If you are bodybuilding or weight training and are not taking any nutritional supplements, you absolutely will not even come close to reaching your full potential. You do not need any type of steroid or pro hormones or anything like that, but natural health supplements are needed to help your body recover and build muscle efficiently and healthily.
It is a well known fact that working out, whether it is aerobic or resistance, is very healthy and beneficial to our bodies. However, vigorous workouts also put stress on our bodies and can take a toll, particularly if we do not have the proper nutrients and vitamins in our bodies. We need the proper nutrients to even begin building muscle, and we also need nutrients and antioxidants to help our bodies recover from our workouts before we can even begin to try building muscle. So what dietary supplements are absolutely essential for our workouts?
The most basic nutritional supplement is also the absolute most important: protein. Protein is a basic nutrient found in many foods, and it is absolutely critical to building muscle. Although it is found in many food sources, it is difficult to ingest enough protein from our diets alone. If you are weight training and trying to add muscle, you should ingest about 1.5 grams of protein for every pound that you weigh. So, for example, a person who weighs 100 lbs. should ingest about 150 grams of protein per day! In general, whey protein is the best. It is absorbed easily and quickly by the body, and is the perfect post workout protein supplement. However, if you cannot take whey protein, there are other options.
Another highly effective nutritional supplement is also one of the most popular supplements today: creatine. Creatine occurs naturally in the body, but in very low doses. Supplementing creatine has been proven to help add muscle mass quickly, but that is not all. Creatine supplements also have been shown to help increase strength, energy, and recovery time from workouts. After protein, creatine is the best nutritional supplement to add to your regimen. Taking both protein and creatine with an effective workout regimen is sure help you gain strength and muscle very quickly.
Another incredibly popular bodybuilding supplement is Nitric Oxide, or NO. While I wouldn’t quite put this in the category of protein and creatine, if you are looking to take that next step and really increase your gains in the weight room, I would definitely recommend taking Nitric Oxide. NO basically increases blood flow throughout your body, helping you to workout longer with less fatigue, and helping your body stay in the muscle building phase for much longer.
By adding these supplements to your workout regimen (along with a multi-vitamin), you will be sure to see significant gains in strength and muscle. You will also recover from your workouts much faster. If you are not taking supplements already, this is a no-brainer: start taking these nutritional supplements immediately.
Nutritional supplements are an important component to your health whether you are trying to get into shape, lose weight, build muscle, ward off disease, or simply trying to lead a healthier lifestyle. However, the dietary supplement industry is chock full of misleading hype and misinformation, making it quite confusing for the average consumer to find out what supplements are effective and essential. Here, we will summarize some of the basic essential nutritional health supplements that would benefit most people. However, keep in mind that if you have specific needs or goals in mind, you may need to do some additional research to find which supplements you need.
1. Multi-vitamin supplements. This one is pretty well known: most of us grew up taking our “Flinstone’s vitamins.” However, as we enter adulthood, it seems that many of us forget to take our daily dose of vitamins. A quality multi-vitamin can boost your physical and mental energy, your immune system, and help you ward off sickness and disease. Sure, we can get vitamins from our diets, but with our fast-paced and hectic lifestyles, nearly none of us do.
2. Omega 3 Fish Oil supplements. Fish oil capsules provide us with ever important omega 3 fatty acids, a type of fat that is all too often deficient in our diets. Unless you eat a nearly daily dose of omega 3 rich sea food (and not all sea food is rich in omega 3’s), then you need to be taking these supplements. Omega 3 fats are finally understood to be crucial to maintaining good health. Omega 3’s have been shown to lower “bad” cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart attack, high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke. Omega 3’s may also fight inflammation and related disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis. Fish oil supplements have even been linked to improved mental acuity and lower risks for certain types of cancer! If you aren’t already, start taking these supplements right now!
3. Ginseng. Yes, the ancient Ginseng root. It has been taken in eastern cultures since ancient times, and for good reason. While there is a lot of hype over ginseng today, it is well deserved. Ginseng has been proven to prevent cancer in many lab animals (although not yet in humans). Ginseng can also increase energy and boost libido. These benefits surely make ginseng one of the most important dietary supplements for your health.
These are just 3 of the most important nutritional supplements for your health. Still, there are plenty more dietary supplements that are very effective and useful for your health and nutritional needs. If you are not currently benefiting from these health supplements, what are you waiting for?
A supplement, by definition, is something that accompanies something essential. But, in some cases, nutritional supplements can themselves be an essential part of a healthy nutrition regimen.
Whether because of a busy life style, or an individual genetic or physiological condition, there are those who benefit from nutritional supplements. Everyone requires a certain amount of vital biochemicals, with the proportion varying within a narrow range for almost everyone.
But diet doesn’t always supply those amounts, even when a sincere effort is made to eat properly. Some have rigorous exercise routines, others are forced to a more sedentary lifestyle because of work and family life. Most importantly, every individual is unique and therefore requires a particular amount of nutrient that differs slightly from others.
B-complex vitamins, for example, are essential for everyone. But the proper amount will vary depending on weight and unique physiology. For some, an all-purpose daily vitamin pill is enough to supply any needed amount that doesn’t come from a balanced diet. The body has a well-tuned ability, in most cases, to absorb what’s needed and slough off the rest.
For others, added amounts or specialized types are a requirement for good health. Vitamin C is eliminated in the urine when consumed in excess amounts. But what is excess one day may not be enough the next, requiring tomorrow’s deficit to be made up through diet or supplements.
Taking Vitamin C once helped eliminate the dangers of scurvy and rickets. That’s rarely a problem in developed countries today, but there is strong evidence that it helps boost the immune system, leading to fewer colds and infections. Past claims overstated the facts, but Vitamin C remains a needed element.
Many people as they get older consume much less calcium. To an extent, that’s normal and healthy. Young adults don’t require anywhere near the amounts that they did when they were infants or young children.
But the curve picks up again later in life, as bones become less able to manufacture the appropriate amount. For many who are lactose intolerant, or simply don’t care for the taste of cow’s or goat’s milk, getting calcium in the form of a supplement is a great way to get that essential mineral.
Omega-3 are essential fatty acids that help reduce inflammation and prevent heart disease, to name only two benefits. But one of the main dietary sources – fish – isn’t to everyone’s taste. It’s also unfortunately the case that sometimes the local fish supply is temporarily unsafe. In those circumstances a nutritional supplement is an excellent alternative.
There are dozens of supplements that can help balance out hormonal deficiencies that many women and some men suffer from. Soy is one that can smooth out imbalances and help reduce PMS (Premenstrual Syndrome) or menopause symptoms. Others are helpful for thyroid imbalances.
Cortisol is another example. Naturally produced by most people in the proper amount, some people have a deficiency due to a gland weakened by disease, age or genetic condition. Those low in cortisol can suffer from fatigue, aching joints and other symptoms. Taken in the proper amounts, it can make a huge positive lifestyle difference.
Each person should undergo rigorous testing before taking anything more than an average daily vitamin or one of the more common supplements. Ginko, for example, can lead to excessive bleeding in some. You need to know which are safe for you. But once you have the results, taking nutritional supplements can make the difference between mediocre and optimal health.

This interview is an excerpt from Kevin Gianni’s Fountain of Youth Summit, which can be found at http://fountainofyouthworldsummit.com. In this excerpt, Jesse Connone shares on supplements, medication and nutrition for back pain.
The Fountain of Youth World Summit with Jesse Connone co-founder of the Healthy Back Institute.
Kevin: What kinds of supplement are good for back pain or joints or anything that’s muscular like that?
Jesse: In the case of internal inflammation or systematic inflammation. Again the body is in this constant state of inflammation and is preventing the body from healing. A recent study on heart disease found that. I believe that is almost 50% just shy of 50% of people who died from heart attach didn’t have clogged arteries. And what they found is, these people did have systematic inflammation. So they have this inflammation in their blood and what in the case of heart attack what they found is the nflammation that they caused a little piece of plague that they did have in their arteries to kind of pop like popcorn. And basically they found that higher level of inflammation in the body the more this tends to happen. And this inflammation causes to plague the pop and basically the damages the artery. And in a split second you are gone.
And the way to kind of offset that and try to reduce this information in your body is making sure that you are eating healthy. So avoiding food that trigger inflammation, avoiding chemicals and pesticides and toxins and also supplementation. So there is herbs, enzymes that go into the body. And counter balance that if your will. And you know there is lots of different herbs. Many that have been used for thousands of years in another countries like India and Asia that go into the body and have this counter balancing effect.
Kevin: Is there anything specific that most people could benefit from regardless of their back pain or anything?
Jesse: Yeah! Absolutely there is whole list of nutritional supplements but what we found is people typically get better results. It’s easier if they just take a single formula that has multiple ingredients in it.
Kevin: O.k.
Jesse: Because there is lots of ingredients that have you know these positive effects on this inflammation. And pain you know naturally which is great. But to take four five six of these things and experiment to find the ones that work for you can be expensive and time consuming and difficult.
Kevin: Sure
Jesse: Yeah! Actually we use several different brands over the years. In working with so many different people what we have found is. What we have done actually is. Is that we take in something that we knew would help people or might thought might help people. So we tested it with our people. And so we would test all these different brands and supplements of all these different brands of equipment, all these different types of treatments over the year. And find what works the best. So we spend almost the last two almost three years testing different types of testing formula for people with pain. And we found numerous different ones that worked. But we typically had again a little bit of combining that I talked about.
Kevin: Right!
Jesse: Take this one and this one this time of day. And this one on empty stomach. So it was a bit confusing so we actually finally created our own.
Kevin: Oh Really! O.k.
Jesse: Just this past year. And it’s called lifeline plus and again it’s a combination of herbs and enzymes that worked naturally to reduce inflammation and pain. And on the what, were on the subject of inflammation one of the real big dangers that’s so common among people who have back pain. Is that they are taking prescriptions and fakes Non steroid or anti inflammatory.
Kevin: Right!
Jesse: And you probably heard in many of different people and probably heard that lots of the drugs are dangerous and many of them are pulled off the market. Because they have killed so many people. And they finally, government put enough pressure on them to finally pull the drug. The problem is a lot of these people are in so much pain; again they are not getting what we have talked about tonight. They are not getting the thorough evaluation; nobody is talking to them about physical dysfunction and muscle imbalances. They are not doing these specific targeted exercises, stretches and various treatments based on their situation so they are constantly in pain. And they need to take something, or they feel they need to take something rightfully so they are taking muscle relaxants both prescription and over the counter and fakes. That’s the problem because you shouldn’t take them ever. I personally doesn’t take them anymore. I took them 10 years ago before I knew anything really about health. And I would take them whenever I would have flair of back pain or shoulder pain or knee pain you know. I use to be into you know heavy duty weight lifting and body building so you know what comes with that is lots of injuries.
Kevin: Sure!
Jesse: So I was always taking stuff prescription and over the counter.
Kevin: Really? O.k.
Jesse: And now that I have spent the last ten years in the health and fitness field I found that the things are dangerous, they kill people. And even if it doesn’t kill you, it will be causing internal damage that you can’t see. You know if you are taking something like Tylenol. And slowly it is beating up your inside then you start to bleed internally. You can’t see that.
Kevin: Or you can’t feel it. What do you say to them?
Jesse: I say you can but it may take some changes in what you are doing.
Kevin: Yeah!
Jesse: And here’s the thing with the medication. It’s easier to take this super powerful drug then it is to eat healthy, to drink water, to do these exercises and stretches and to take it under personal supplement maybe not as strong as a drug. And you know just like everything in life people want easy, the easy pill.
Kevin: Yeah!
Jesse: Just like if you have seen in Staples. Here in the United States we got this staple office supplies. You got the easy button. Well people want thing easy, like people will take pills to lose weight, pills to get rid of their pain, pills to grow this, pills to do that. It is a problem and it is a challenge and some people we just can’t get through. They’ll keep taking the drugs and eventually they are out of problems. I sent an email recently about the dangers of insides and other than the couple of dozen attach emails I got from doctors questioning my story and my fax about the dangers of these drugs. We got dozens of emails who have personally lost friends and family members because of them.
Kevin: Wow!
Jesse: Yeah! One lady lost a 7-year old daughter who is on anti-inflammatory prescription drugs.
Kevin: Wow!
Jesse: Another person, another lady lost her husband. I mean literally, I mean probably about a dozen emails from our email list of people who have lost family members and friends. You know physically killed by the drug. And again that’s just a very small sample of the billions of people that are out in the world and the millions of millions of people who have taken this drug.
Kevin: Right!
Jesse: And so again you can’t get pain relief with drugs it is more work. But what do you want. So what do you want? Do you want to do the safe way? That may take a little bit more effort. But it will keep you alive. And it will keep you healthy. Do you want a quick fix drug that will slowly kill or maybe quickly kill you?
Kevin: You may never know.
Jesse: Right! Well in some cases that’s a big challenge.
Kevin : I think it is a fantastic thing that you have such a great client database that you could do some of these test and what other sort of there is one or two other different studies that you had done that were pretty telling that about back that you would like to share.
Jesse: Yeah we have a lot of surveys of our customers and our non-customers. We just have over 400,000 people that are currently on our email list. And round around 40,000 customers. And both of those people we have done lot and lots of research. Lots of surveys and resolve. And also done some of the informal studies. I would say the biggest one or most surprising was one that I mentioned earlier about nutrition and the impact it has on people and their pain.
Kevin: Right!
Jesse: I knew nutrition was important but I didn’t think it was something that would jump out on the survey results. I thought it was something that would really identify but I knew it was important in my gut.
Kevin: Sure, It was something like maybe you can identify but there will be other factors that will be involved as you said.
Jesse: Right! Right! Yeah exactly, yeah we were able to physically see that there was a distinct correlation between the number of people who ate unhealthy fast food and big infrequent meals and their pain level being more intense and being more frequent bouts of pain and longer duration. You know suffering from pain for longer time. . . versus the people who ate, who tended to eat healthier more frequent meals of smaller meals.
Kevin: Wow!
Jesse: So it was very interesting to see, it just goes to show you that as for everything there was never one factor .
Kevin: Right!
Jesse: And so in the case of back pain there is never going to be one thing that does it all for you. There will be one thing that will get you to the 90% pain free and right for instance I will give you, realize the example here. Most of the people who use or use our back pain system. They do the physical part. They do the evaluation, they find their physical dysfunction. They find their muscle imbalances. And they work on those. And within just days took a lot of time but usually couple of weeks. You know they are 90% pain free. And for them that is such an improvement. That they stopped there.
Kevin: Yeah!
Jesse: They don’t do the mental and emotional part that we talked about and that we teach them. They don’t do the internal part, the nutrition, the water and then you know the supplementation and inevitably what happens is they also stopped the physical part. They do the program long enough to make them feel better. And once they feel better they say “oh yeah this is great, Back to my life.” So then the pain comes back. And that’s why we created the concept of dimension before and pretty healing formula. And that is to educate people that there is these three distinct areas. Internal, External and Mental emotional that you need to be aware of that you need to attention to that you need to address, if you really want to get relief. You wanted to stay away. If you want to stay pain free.
Kevin: Wow! That sounds like you have a good holistic package and we are running out of time now and I want to thank you for coming on board.

In general, the population of the world is becoming more and more focused on health, and health related issues than ever before. Due to that fact, millions of people are starting to rely on nutritional supplements for their nutritional needs. Because very few of us actually eat the way we are supposed to, supplements are needed to ensure that our body’s get the nutrients they need to function and be healthy everyday.
Unless you like the idea of sitting in your doctor’s office often, you should take the time to take care of yourself, and ensure your health. Your body needs vitamins and nutrients for healing and protection from disease, so it is essential you provide them, either form your foods, or in the form of daily supplements. Supplements can also help enhance your immune system, boosting overall health, and helping your body is better able to fight off illnesses. The weaker your immune system, the more likely you are to get sick, and the longer it will likely take for you to recuperate.
Healthcare costs are rising everyday, due in part to the fact that people just don’t take care of themselves as they should, requiring more visits to the doctor, and boosting costs. If everyone became more health conscious, and starting using daily supplements, some of these costs would start to decrease. Nutritional supplements, when taken properly, can help reduce the rise of national
There are currently several supplements that have been approved by the FDA, and more that are expected to be added in the near future. The FDA is evaluating supplements, the cost of healthcare, and the cost of health insurance, trying to find ways to lower the economic strain that we are all under. The theory is that by focusing more on preventative medicine, particularly the use of supplements, these costs will drop dramatically.
One of the more popular supplements being used today is Vitamin C. This supplement have been proven to be a powerful antioxidant, and is currently being researched for it’s role in lowering the risks of developing certain types of cancer and even heart disease, two of the major killers in the world today.
For healthy skin, Vitamin A supplements are highly recommended. Vitamin E is also great for the skin, and has also been shown to help lower the risks of developing diabetes for some people. For those who are worried about the signs of aging, selenium is a good option, and it also helps protect against prostate cancer.
If you want to be healthy, and cut your healthcare costs, think about boosting your health with nutritional supplements! They really aren’t that expensive, and can go a long way towards helping your body get the nutrition it needs!
Many people take nutritional supplements to ensure that they received the right amount of nutrients in their diet for a healthy lifestyle. Others take supplements because they have a digestive this order which prevents their body from absorbing all of the essential nutrients that their body needs. This is a rather common disorder, and has to do with the fact that the individual’s stomach cannot maintain the properly acidic level in their stomach. It could also be associated with a buildup of toxins within the intestines of the individual. Some people just simply lack the proper enzymes needed to break down digestive material.
The good news is that over a period of time the digestive system can be restored back to proper functioning through the use of the proper nutrients. The best way to improve the digestive problems you may have it to eat a diet full of organic matter, such as fruits and vegetables, along with taking nutritional supplements. You don’t need a prescription for them, but you should talk to your doctor before you begin taking them. Some supplements can create adverse reactions when combined with certain prescription mediations, so it is best to err on the side of caution.
For the most part, the best time to take supplements is before meals. This will allow your body to better absorb the full nutritional value of the supplement. It works better because your body will be in full digestive mode when you eat a meal. When taking a time released supplement, taking it with a meal allows the supplement to make its way into your digestive tract where it will do the best job at delivering the nutrients.
Liquid vitamins are by far the easiest to take, and are also the fastest to get into the bloodstream. By nature, your body will absorb liquids faster then it can digest a solid. The next easiest to take is the water soluble supplement. These supplements will pass through the body rather quickly, but still not as quickly as the liquid. Fat soluble vitamins are best used when taken with a meal that also contains fat. When supplements are taken with food, they will break down quicker and get into the places that it is needed in the body.
By including quality nutritional supplements in your daily diet, you will find that your body will feel the best it has ever felt. This is due to the extra nutrients you are putting into your body. Depending on what you are attempting to achieve with supplement use, there are many types available to help you get that part of your life into tip top shape.
